Defined

More aptly called the Academic Problem Underachiever, the motivated underachiever is identified by Harvey Mandel and Sander Marcus (1988) in their book, The Psychology of Unerachievement, as a student who has no apparent disability to account for the difference between the underachiever's capacity and school success.
