Introduction
This resource is aimed at learners who are learning English as a second or foreign language, and are sufficiently motivated to learn in an autonomous manner. Most of these resources are appropriate for adults, although some also appropriate for adolescents.

- VOA News English Live news, previously reported news. This audio is at normal speed. Includes the a transcript; provides audio files to be downloaded (advanced)
- VOA webcasts Other VOA webcasts providing news live, news review, music mix, and real player or MP3 file archive (advanced)
- The BBC's Learning English site contains many resources.
- News English --> Words in the News provides news reports with a transcript and definitions of selected vocabulary (advanced).
- English by Radio -->Talk about English provides the news on a special topic twice a week and the script in a downloadable file; listeners can vote and send in comments; all the comments are presented online. (upper-intermediate)

- Free Audiobooks has a huge selection of audiobooks in English for children and adults; Low-quality recordings are available for free
- Free audiobooks from Project Gutenberg. These are read by human beings. They also have numerous audio books read by a speech synthesizer (upper-intermediate and advanced)
- Books on MP3 has many free downloads in American English; include the novel written by Mark Twain and T.S. Eliot, etc. (advanced)
- The Reader's Chair free samples 18 free mp3 samples from audiobooks. 2-8 min. long stories read in American English at a high speed. (advanced)
