Talk:Behavioral contracting
From WikEd
This article has some of the same weaknesses as Assertive discipline, in particular the vague use of behavior as perhaps a euphemism for "misbehavior".
Does "change behavior" include things like learning a new skill, such as teaching a child to ride a bike, kick a ball, participate in a discussion group? Good habits like coming to school on time, doing homework before watching TV, etc?
Or is it a euphemism for "curtailing misbehavior"?
I come from a perspective which openly admires values such as persistence, discipline, hard work, cooperation, helping others, etc. We call these "good things", in an absolute moral/ethical sense? Is the BC perspective one which side-steps values such as these?
Maybe I better read your Values clarification article next! Ed Poor 21:14, 16 Sep 2005 (CDT)
