During this coming year, our school will be integrating a Computer Gaming class for middle school students. Students will be required to create games that are interactive and apply to classroom concepts. We will begin by teaching students to program in Scratch and then Alice. From there we will work on Flash games and then possibly foray into Python. -M. Pule
Should Serious Games be used in Education?
Yes, Yes, Yes!!! As an educator & as a parent I absolutely think serious games should be used in education! There are so many benefits of serious games and I don't feel like the concerns (or possible negative aspects) outweigh these positive aspects. Children today (much less tomorrow) are so tech savvy it is scary!! Yet, most of our classrooms are boring and out of date... how can we expect kids to take educators and learning seriously when we are so behind in regards to the actual skills and knowledge they will need in order to compete in the job market of tomorrow!! So once again... YES serious games should be used in Education! - Kona Taylor
I think that by incorporating serious games into education students are able to give an outlet to their creativity and awareness of the content. This is another application process for teachers to measure understanding while students have fun and often do not realize that they are learning. -M. Pule
