Some research questions:

In our Moodle-based EPsy 387 course (log in as guest) students were given the opportunity to create their own Moodle-based course as a component of their major project. On its face, Moodle would seem to be tailor-made for language arts and social studies courses, yet the majority of those who choose Moodle projects (3 of 5) were math teachers. The remaining two were a special education teacher and a health teacher respectively. No language arts, science, or social studies teachers opted to participate. The majority of students who chose Moodle were also male (4 of 5). Why did math teachers appear to find Moodle more attractive?

The instructor and TA were also fairly new at using Moodle. Is it possible that we did not effectively model Moodle features that would appeal to non-math instructors, or was this just a statistical fluke?

The students who created Moodle projects are all face-to-face classroom teachers, not on-line teachers, yet seemed to be very excited by the affordances of Moodle. What attracted them to Moodle rather than other alternatives (e.g., creating traditional web pages)?

Those teachers who took their experimental Moodle classes "live" with actual students seem to be uniformly pleased with the technology. What does Moodle give them that web pages (or even traditional media such as handouts) don't?
