Ability is one of the main attributes for motivation as described by Attribution Theory. Bernard Weiner (1974) in his book Achievement Motivation and Attribution Theory explains that the most common attributes, Ability, Task Difficulty, Effort, and Luck, can reflect qualities of the individual and explain their motivations in school and life.
